We recently caught up with Jess to look back at her journey and celebrate her work anniversary:

After 18 years at Love & Co, what would you say has been the highlight?
The repeat and referral business that has come to me over the years is a highlight of mine and something I’m proud of.

What motivates you to come to work each day?
My motivation for this job is that I’m working towards something for my family, for my kids. The team that I work with also is my motivation. We are a great team that enjoys working alongside each other.

What is your favourite part of your job?
Each day is different, I’m not restricted to be at a desk. I have so many eventful, funny stories over my career in Property Management. This job most certainly isn’t boring!

What are the things you’ve done at work that you’re the proudest about?
Over the years I have worked with some fantastic staff. I’m most proud when I see some of these people that I have trained are now becoming managers, leaders within their own departments. I’m proud of the career progression for myself and them. We have come a long way since we started at Love and Co.

Favourite property you’ve listed/sold/leased? Please share why.
I honestly cannot name one specific. What I can say is that when I list a property it becomes a personal project for me. I ensure that the tenant is suited to the owner and to me. I love seeing each property project come together.

What’s one new thing you’d like to work on/learn or do differently?
I’m looking forward to my new role at Partner at Ivanhoe Office. I’m looking forward to learning more about the business structure and forward planning for this office. Right now, we have a great small team which I’m looking forward to building over the coming years.

How do you manage work/life balance? How flexible is your work arrangement?
Being a mum of 4, I can say that I am extremely lucky with the support I have been given within my career at Love and co. The company is well known for its family values. It is fantastic that I can still be a Mum, while also continuing to work within a job that I absolutely love.

What do you love doing the most in your work?
I love seeing people’s real estate dreams come true. Clients come to me sometimes very stressed. I love being able to take that stress away so that they can move forward with their plans. This can be as small as meeting a prospective renter and giving them their first chance at getting into the rental market.

Have you achieved any professional goals since beginning at Love & Co?
Over the years I have achieved many goals. Meeting monthly goals, listing properties per month n I have more recently moved into Sales. The sales move has been a long goal for me and I’m happy that I have achieved this.

How do you feel about the leadership at Love & Co?
I have been lucky to work alongside a great leadership team. If you work hard enough, this industry can take you to some great career pathways.

Have you made any long-term connections/friendships with your colleagues?
I have made many long-term relationships over my journey at Love and Co, we are like a huge family! I started at the company at the age of 21. Graham Love has been a support to me and my family over the years. A true mentor; something I will always be grateful for.

What would you say are your talents, interests or skills that have you made you successful in your work?
I grew up in country Victoria. I think my hard-working nature, sales background, can-do attitude has made me successful in all the areas I have worked in within the industry.

What is the nicest testimonial you have received?
The nicest testimonial would have come from an owner who said “it was like winning the lotto to have me as her agent.

What advice would you like to give clients about the current market?
The advice I give to any client would be the market is always changing. Really looking at what you can manage within your means at the time. Don’t get caught up in what the media says, stick to your own lane and let us the professionals help you get there.

Selecting an agent requires level of trust – what do you believe helps clients to entrust you with their property?
My level of experience within the industry is something that I know is a strength. Assisting clients with a stress-free experience, while also a positive journey helps my clients trust me.

The importance of local knowledge cannot be overstated when it comes to selling real estate. Do you agree?
I believe local knowledge is important, also market conditions. Giving client feedback on where their property sits within the market can sometimes be tricky. I’d much rather give honest feedback than waste time.

How active are you in the local community?
I’m a member of my local gym and support my local cafes. In my spare time I enjoy being with my partner Peter and four children Ella, Sophie, Ivy and Bodhi. I love cooking and getting home to country Victoria to see family when we can.

What do you love most about the North?
I love most about the north our local cafes, parks, walking tracks and people. We are a diverse area, I love helping all different types of people.

We know you’ll love Jess as much as we do – give her a call for all of your real estate needs and we promise she’ll turn you into a raving fan too!
